20 Key West Photos That Will Make You Want To Be There

Key West... It is America's Caribbean. Easy to get to and a must visit for every Islander.

Here are 20 Photo's from Key West and the surrounding areas.

Beautiful waters, interesting people, and enough bars that you could almost visit one a day for a full year. When you think of Key West, the thoughts of a tropical paradise pop into mind. Grab a drink, sit at Smathers beach for the day, then go watch the sunset from Mallory Square.

Jimmy Buffett got his inspiration from Key West. Captain Tony put his saloon there back in '58. Henry Flagler took 15 years to fully build his Overseas Railroad to connect it to Miami.

Staying in Key West can be a bit expensive and a bit of sticker shock for first time visitors. Most bars & restaurants on Duval Street will get a premium for their drinks and food. Ask a few locals where they would go to grab a bite to eat to experience something that is less than touristy.

Thinking about Moving to Key West? Better have a good job lined up. Island lifestyles can be a bit expensive. Tack on the fact that Key West is a hot destination to begin with and just about anything you want to do on the island can be more expensive.

Travel Tip: If money is a factor, try staying just outside of Key West at a hotel on another Key. You will not have to pay premium rates for being right at a tourist destination.

My godmother used to own Nellie and Joes’s Key Lime factory. Edith and Bill. She was French and had been a POW during during Hitler’s reign of terror. I have spent many many days and nights there in the late ‘70s and early ’80s. Loved it then and still love it. Haven’t been back for a while though.
