Richland Rum Review

I think it is the time I start expanding my horizons....with my rum selection. I am a fan of Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and Blue Chair Bay Coconut Rum. They are good quality rums at a reasonable price. But what about something more expensive? Something higher grade? I recently saw Richland Rum for sale and decided to pick up a bottle.

Richland Rum is clearly a sipping rum and at $57 a bottle, you may want to saver each sip. My initial impression was a smooth rum with a good amount of flavor to it. The flavor did disappear soon. That was a bit of a disappointment as I personally, I like to savor the spices of my rum for a while.

Richland Rum is a good choice if you want to have a good sipping rum with a strong initial taste.

Pro's: Overall good flavor, smooth. Good sipping rum. Chill first. I tried it warm in my video.
Con's: No prolonged after taste. Not something I would use with a typical Coke & Rum.
Would Island Jay suggest it? Yes, if you want a higher end rum to sip on.
Price Paid: $57
Proof: 86
ABV: 46%
Size: 750ml

Hi! We recently went on a tour at the Richland Distilling Company in Richland, Georgia. Their sugar cane farm is just a couple miles away from the Distillery. Check out my short vlog of the tour https://youtu.be/Fiv51LjRrHk

I’d also recommend Pusser’s. It’s about $27 a bottle and delicious. Drink it on the rocks, letting the ice cool it for about a minute. Sip and smile.

For $50 (here in Florida) I would have gone with Zacapa 23 yr. or for about $35 Diplomatico Reserva. Both are sipping rums with a caramel and vanilla finish, but surprisingly enough, the more affordable Diplomatico is the smoother of the two with less initial burn! Try ‘em, I doubt you’ll be disappointed!
