The Painkiller Recipe

The Painkiller is one of the most popular mixed drinks in the entire Caribbean The Painkiller is one of the most popular mixed drinks in the entire Caribbean and is traditionally concocted with Pusser’s Rum. It was first created in BVI’s Soggy Dollar Bar in the 1970s, a fun bar placed in an exotic setting, making it well worth the visit.

Today, I’m headed to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands for the longest double date of my life. In celebration of my romantic couples getaway, today’s international drink recipe is the “Painkiller” – the official cocktail of the British Virgin Islands!

HOW TO MAKE A PAINKILLER

Ingredients:

  • 2-4 oz. of Pusser’s Rum
Or us a dark rum of your choice

  • 4 oz. pineapple juice
Fresh is best, but let's be realistic. Canned is ok.

  • 1 oz. cream of coconut

  • 1 oz. orange juice
Again, fresh orange juice is best. Time to work those forearms and squeeze those oranges.

  • Grated fresh nutmeg

Let's do this!:

  1. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Pour in the Prusser's Rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and orange juice.
  3. Stir it up!
  4. Pour it into a cocktail glass of your choice
  5. Sprinkle nutmeg on top
  6. For fun, garnish with a pineapple.
