Jimmy Buffett Free Concert Held in Atlantic City

Jimmy Buffett Free Concert Margaritaville Atlantic City

This past Saturday, June 15, 2013, Jimmy Buffett graced Atlantic City for a rare, free concert.

With almost 50,000 people in attendance, the free concert was part of Jimmy Buffett’s kick off of his latest Margaritaville resort, the Margaritaville Atlantic City Resorts & Casino. The scene was like a big Parrothead tailgating party. With the weather well into the 80′s and the concert being held right on the beach by the new Landshark Bar & Grill, the scene was a perfect blend of the lifestyle that any Jimmy Buffett fan could appreciate.

Joining Jimmy Buffett was long time friend and fellow Coral Reefer band member, Mac McAnally, who sang four of his own songs that we wrote before Buffett came on stage. One of which was written for Kenny Chesney named “Back Where I Come From.”

Jimmy Buffett began his performance just after 4 p.m., staying for about an hour. He sang many of the well known favorites like “Volcano”, “A Pirate Looks at Forty”, and “Cheeseburger in Paradise” before finally ending his show with the expected “Margaritaville”.

“It is so nice to be in Jersey again. Thank you all. Have a great Saturday night,”, Buffett said before exiting the stage.

His warm and exciting attitude was a welcome change to the region which has been hard economic times and the destruction of hurricane Sandy. Many see the new Margaritaville Atlantic City Resorts & Casino as a sign of improvement and better things to come.

The crowd thinned a bit, but Wilson Phillips later made their way to the stage singing a mix of this past hits and other famous songs.

Jimmy Buffett will be playing Margaritaville Bossier City on July 3rd, 2013. Our own Matt Hoggatt will be part of the show as well, so be sure to check out the event!
